BACKGROUND

This Wise Democracy Pattern Language is one of hundreds of pattern languages of many types. Pattern languages give logical structure to life-serving design principles. This section of the website introduces you to key definitions, standards and perspectives used to guide the creation of this pattern language – information that will deepen your understanding of it. We also provide a brief history of the first pattern language and links to several other socially transformative pattern languages that can be viewed as cousins of this one about designing wise democracy. We also describe ourselves and the sources that inspired this work.
